It's all about the churches now...

It's Monday and I had another tutorial with Jim and Patricia, and basically need to take some focus with my project. I wasn't going in a clear direction but I think I know what I have to do. During the weekend I did some large scaled drawings in Pastel, Charcoal and Pencil of St. Johns Cathedral. Some were more successful then others and then some not at all. My charcoal piece was a disaster I think I was desperate to have some substantial to show for myself on Monday that I didn't take a blind bit of notice of what I was taught in the last year at CSN. The Composition was awful and I could have been more adventurous with the marks I was making with the charcoal, I need read up more on Denis Creffield's techniques.

The steeple isn't actually lopsided like that its the paper flopping...Notice the negative space left poor  use of the page, and its also cropped on the right.

I did a Oil pastel drawing of the disused St. John's Church which turned out to be more of a wacky experiment with colour then a proper observational drawing. The lighting changed every 5 minutes so it was dull and grey one minute, sunny the next and then lashing rain 5 minutes after that so I couldn't get the colour right no matter how hard I tried so I put in all the colour I could see, so its really is an experiment.
I kind of still like it even if it doesn't make sense. Apologies for the funny writing different sized writing.

Saoirse.
