Over neglected blog..PORTRAITS..portraits...Portraits

Havent updated this old thing in far too long. But that just means I've been super busy slaving away in art college. I'm really enjoying ceramics at the moment, we can can bascially do whatever we want for these last few weeks. I've chosen ceramic portraiture as I've always like the idea of it and always wanted to try it. At first I wanted to do a well known celebrity or character and immediately thought of Mick Jagger, because I love him and he's well known etc I painted his portrait in monotone to get into the swing of things (see above picture

But I've decided to do someone closer to home because I have access too them for measurements etc...AND its much harder then I expected but the challenge is good I just need keep praticing. I'm doing my room mates face:) and I'm very quickly getting sick of her haha. Here's some drawings I've done Miss Lennon herself :) I like the idea of portraits on jugs? Like relief characters. That way I can throw (which I really enjoy) and get to do some figurative stuff as well. This sort of thing...

This is by Lora Robins, she does historical figures, celebrities, characters from literiture and other themes from pop culture. It's quite cool isn't it.
